Zephyr had been back in the UK for only a few weeks before he found himself being able to perform at a decent bar and lounge. It wasn't the biggest place, but it also wasn't tiny. It was a good place for him to sing to make some money. It was a pretty nice place, which surprised him a little bit. He had gotten used to singing in pretty gross bars and establishments that would take him. So to be able to upgrade and sing in a fancy bar was a great opportunity for him. He was excited to perform, if not a little nervous. He had been traveling for months, he hadn't been back home in all that time and barely talked to any of his friends.

He had lost touch with many of his friends, but he hoped that he could get back in contact with some of them. Zeph looked at the little stage area for performances from his place at the corner of the bar as he took a deep breath. He hadn't had anything to drink before singing just to make sure he made a good impression. He wanted to elevate his singing career and being drunk for performances wasn't going to help.

Zeph stood up from the bar and made his way to the stage and sat on the one stool that was there and adjusted the mic for his height. He introduced himself briefly before he waved his wand to start the music. A moment later he began to sing, closing his eyes blocking out the patrons of the bar. He wanted to focus on singing and losing himself in the music that he had begun to love and find solace in.

It was the first Friday night that Brady had out on in a long time. He honestly couldn't remember the last time he had been to a bar. And he really wasn't there by choice. Yuna, his younger sister, had said he was overworking himself and that he needed a night off. She had even laid out clothes for him for his evening out. She seemed so insistent that he really couldn't say no. So, he didn't, and he ended up heading to a bar he knew he liked that had live music every Friday night.

As he pushed the door open he could already hear the music playing through the bar. From what he could hear it sounded good, more chill then it usually was. He stepped inside, glancing around, trying to let his eyes adjust to the dim light. It seemed rather crowded, each table full of people drinking and chatting quietly or listening to the music. He started towards the bar, so focused on getting a drink that it took him a moment longer then it should have to realize that whoever was singing was singing in Korean.

Brady stopped and listened to the song a moment, not yet looking at the stage. Whoever was singing had a wonderfully deep voice. And it was relaxing just like the song itself was. It had almost lulled Brady into a sleepy mood until his brain made all the connections and the voice suddenly became recognizable. Brady turned around quickly looking at the stage and felt his heart tighten seeing who it was.

It was strange to see Zephyr up on stage and even stranger to see him singing up on stage. Brady hadn't seen him or talked to him since October and now here he was singing in Korean in a small bar in London that Brady loved. It was strange and it made Brady's stomach roil. And all he could do was stare up at his best friend who he felt so many things for at once. Sadness because they hadn't talked in so long and loneliness because he missed his best friend. And then on top of that anger. Anger had never been part of Brady's personality until recently and he was still not quite used to how terrible it made him feel. But it took over his smaller feelings and he felt it beating through his chest as he looked up at Zephyr. He was here, in London.

The music rolled around Zephyr as he sang. Singing was the one time in recent months that he felt truly alive. Any other time he seemed to be barely alive. Drinking himself till he passed out and made himself continuously do something so that he didn't have to sit with his brain. The regret, the worry, the fear, the anger with himself, everything. But singing canceled all that out. It gave him comfort when he had no other way to find comfort.

As the song came to a close he opened his eyes and looked out at the crowd and smiled a little bit as people began to clap for him. The smile was short lived when his eyes found a familiar figure. Brady. Brady Park, his best friend. Or, old best friend. They hadn't spoken since the incident at the Halloween event when they kissed and Zeph pushed Brady away.

Zeph froze in his seat on the stool as he stared at Brady. He couldn't believe Brady was there, at the bar that he had his first performance in the UK at. Brady looked exhausted and thinner if it was possible. Zeph's chest tightened with the thought that he caused Brady to not eat. Not that Zeph had been good about eating, but he didn't want Brady to suffer because of him. That was why he had left in the first place. He couldn't handle facing Brady. And maybe it was a selfish move but he was truly afraid of how Brady would react to him.

Zephyr tore his eyes away from Brady and looked at the crowd. "Sorry everyone, I will continue singing after a quick break." He spoke quickly his voice shaking slightly. He stood up quickly and started toward the door, trying to get outside without running into Brady. He needed the air to try and calm himself down before he threw himself into a panic attack. He wasn't ready to talk to Brady yet. Hell, he didn't know if he was ever going to be ready to talk to Brady. He stumbled out the door and took a gasping breath of fresh night air. "Merlin's beard...How am I supposed to do this?" He mumbled to himself putting a hand on his chest trying to calm the tightness.

Brady just stood frozen, watching Zephyr sing. He knew he should move. He knew he should get a drink and find a dark corner so Zeph wouldn't see him. But he felt glued to the same place, unable to even think about moving his legs. All he could do was stare at the guy who had broke his heart in a way Brady didn't think was possible. Sure, Brady never really expected their relationship to be anything more then friendship but for that moment they had kissed he had hope. He thought maybe things would change and he'd get to be the boy he was so madly in love with and it was those hopes that made the fall even worse. That's what made it hurt so bad.

He was so lost in his own thoughts that he almost didn't realize the song had stopped and Zephyr was looking at him. Brady blinked, standing still, unsure of what to do with himself. All he could think about was how he felt. His anger and sadness. And all he could do was watch as Zephyr said he needed a break and started off the stage. His eyes followed the other boy as he stepped outside. Brady stood in the same place for a moment, looking at the door still half in shock. And then before he really knew what he was doing he was walking to the door, stepping outside, and standing in front of his old best friend.

"Where the hell have you been?" The question came out harsher then he had intended it to. But the anger was starting to boil more as he looked at Zephyr. He looked okay, paler then he normally was. Maybe it was because of the dark hair he now had, a color he had never seen on Zephyr before. It would have been stunning if Brady wasn't so upset. And he couldn't help it. Not only did Zeph push him away but he also disappeared for months without telling Brady anything. Without saying one damn word to him.

The tightness in his chest didn't go away. It only got worse as he stood there trying to calm down. He rubbed his hand over his chest as he stood there staring at nothing. He was so lost in his head that he visibly jumped when Brady came out the door and snapped at him. Zeph gasped and closed his eyes tightly hearing just how harsh Brady sounded. He was angry, that much was clear from the simple question. But it was something new to Zeph, Brady was rarely angry in his life. Then again he couldn't blame Brady for being angry, Zeph was angry with himself too.

Zeph slowly opened his eyes as he rubbed his chest, even more, trying to keep himself collected. He looked at Brady and bit his lip seeing the anger in his eyes. All Zeph wanted to do was run away and hide. Then again that's why he was in trouble, to begin with. "I've been around the world actually..." Zeph's voice sounded meek even in his own ears. A weird sound for him to hear from himself. Meekness wasn't something he was used to, but something about Brady right then made him feel meek and small. He was scared and intimidated by his former best friend and longtime crush.

He took a shaky breath as he took a step back from Brady and feels the wall of the building against his back and he leaned onto it. It gave him something to grab onto in a way, something tangible for him to feel while everything else seemed to be crashing down around him once again.

Brady hadn't intended to talk to Zephyr. Hell, Brady really hadn't intended to go outside. In his brain he was going to let Zephyr sing his songs and do his thing and let him run off again. Sure, Brady missed him like crazy but he was starting to get used to life without him. And now everything came crashing back and he didn't know what to do with it. And as of late his automatic emotional response had been anger to just about anything. It was his body's way of finally getting back at him for all those years of being a pushover. And it was clear in that moment he was coming off mad with how Zephyr reacted to his question. Brady wanted to care and part of him did but he mostly was just mad.

Brady frowned openly, crossing his arms over his chest. "Oh yeah. Where exactly have you been?" Korea. Brady knew he had to have gone to Korea with the way he was singing. His pronunciation was better and Brady could tell. And that stung deeper then Brady thought it would. Zephyr never really denied being Korean but he never seemed to have the urge to go to the country. At least, he always promised Brady he would go with him. And the fact that he probably went by himself made Brady's chest tighten in anger even more. "And don't you lie to me." Brady could hear the tightness in his voice, his accent a little stronger then it normally was because of the heavy emotions he felt.

He watched as Zeph retreated. Was he really that scary right now? He wasn't even that much taller then Zeph, if he was taller at all. But Brady has always been strong, so he supposed if he tried hard enough he could have been intimidating. Zephyr looked and acted meek at the moment, which was strange for him. It was like their roles had switched. Usually Zephyr was the temperamental one, quicker to snap, while Brady often stood in the back. Strange how times had changed them.

Zephyr knew that sooner or later they were going to have to speak to each other. He knew that it wasn't going to be a pleasant conversation. Hell, he had a pretty good idea of how Brady must feel about him since it was probably what Zephyr felt about himself. Hate. Or at least a strong loathing of sorts. Zeph had missed Brady every single day after he left. There had never been a day he didn't think about or regret what happened. But he tried. He tried to let go and forget everything, that's why he drank himself till he would pass out. Or continuously make sure he was doing things so that he was never alone with his own thoughts. He did everything that he could to punish himself for what he did. Scars left and right on his body, some self-inflicted, others from extreme sports or other hazardous activities that he tried.

The frown on Brady's face was clear. The way he crossed his arms over his chest told the story that Zeph knew was going on. Brady was pissed. He was openly angry which had never been a thing before. But boy was it ever apparent now. And it was truly frightening. It made Zeph want to run for the hills. But it also made him want to stand his ground and let Brady beat him to a pulp just in hopes that it would make Brady feel better.

Zeph flinched at the question, it was a loaded question because Brady knew at least one of the placed he had been. He had sung in the language Brady had tried to teach him for years. Years of their friendship had been dedicated to teaching him the language that he obviously should have known but instead claimed Irish English as his language. "You know one of the places I was in Brady." His voice still shook slightly but he tried to compose himself. Tried to take the fear and place it because the walls that he had constructed around his heart. "I would never lie to you, Brady. You know that. No matter how much time goes by, I would never lie to you." It was the truth. He could never imagine lying to Brady, at least not about things that mattered.

He knew the fact that he went to Korea without Brady probably hurt. And he didn't do it out of spite. In fact, Zeph went there first because he wanted to learn more of the language, and be able to come back and talk to Brady in Korean, maybe to impress him or something. But obviously, it hurt him. Zeph's heart sank, even more, realizing that he hurt Brady again. It had never been his intention to hurt him. Nothing Zeph did, was to hurt Brady. Nothing.

Zephyr hated the situation they were in. It was all thanks to him, and he had no idea how to remedy it. No idea at all. But being meek and being afraid was the only thing he could do. He rubbed his chest as he stood with his back pressed against the wall as he looked at Brady. Brady had a right to yell at him. Brady had a right to beat the crap out of him if he wanted too. Brady had every right to do anything he wanted after what Zeph did to him. And Zeph would take it, no matter what.

Brady wondered what Zephyr was thinking about. Zephyr was never good at shutting down his emotions and Brady generally knew what Zeph was upset and panicked. It was clear Zeph was panicked right now but Brady couldn't tell why exactly. What was he thinking about? Was he that nervous about what Brady would do? Honestly, Brady wasn't sure what he wanted to do. So, he was only fair that Zephyr was nervous. Brady wasn't used to being angry so he could only imagine how he looked to Zephyr at the moment.

He could almost feel his frown getting worse, turning more into a glare as Zephyr spoke. He called it. He knew it; he knew that his friend had gone to the one place they promised to go to together without him. All Brady had ever wanted to do was show Zephyr his home country and he knew that. And he threw it back in his face. "Why?" As much as he tried not to sound angry the question came out harsh. Again. He kind of felt bad because it was clear Zephyr was really struggling but he couldn't shake the feeling. The anger and the hurt. "You know how I felt about you going to Korea...." This time his voice came out a little softer, hurt, but it was laced with acid.

Brady tried to think through Zephyr's reasoning for going to Korea without him and he couldn't think of any logical reasons. All he could think of was that Zephyr did it to spite him. Logically, he knew that wasn't the reason, but that's all his could think of. He felt his arms drop to his side and his fingers curl into fists, his nails digging into his palms. His arms were starting to shake some and he could feel his throat tighten. He was so angry. He needed to calm down. This wasn't the right way to do things.

Everything about Brady screamed tense, and it was only getting worse as they stood there. Brady had always been stronger than Zeph even if Brady had always been the pushover when they were in school. Even out of school Brady had been the pushover and Zeph had been the loud on that called people out on their shit. But now all Zeph could think of was letting Brady pummel him into the concrete at their feet. Maybe it would happen sooner rather than later as Brady pretty much glared at him.

The glare made his heart jump almost out of his chest and he had to tap on his chest to try and calm himself enough to keep breathing. The air felt heavy as he struggled to take in the air his lungs needed but he didn't move or make any change besides the tapping on his chest to try and keep the panic attack at bay. If he panicked Brady would probably just leave him there in a pathetic heap and he didn't want that. He would force it away until Brady left. The next words Brady spoke broke Zeph's heart. He felt what was left of his heart begin to crumble all over again. He was sure by the end of the conversation he wouldn't have a heart left. "Brady...I..." He paused as he voice cracked and he looked down. He couldn't look at Brady anymore, not with him glaring at him. It hurt too much.

"I wanted to go...to learn the language...to impress you...It wasn't to spite you I swear." Zephyr felt his eyes tear up as he struggled to speak. The tightness in his chest not only making it hard to breathe but also to speak. "I just wanted...to be able to come back...and speak Korean...with you..." Gasping breaths fell between the words as he tried to make a cohesive sentence. The tapping of his fingers on his chest sped up as he saw Brady's hands go into fists at his sides.

Zephyr was beginning to break down. Brady could see it happening both from Zephyr's face and he his actions. And it made Brady even more curious about what Zeph was thinking. What was he expecting Brady to do to him? He watched as Zephyr tapped on his chest, a sure sign he was starting to panic more. And Brady kind of felt bad. He kind of wanted to reach out and touch him and reassure him that it would all be okay. But would it all be okay? Brady knew their relationship would never be the same. And besides, he couldn't bring himself to reach out and touch Zephyr right now. Brady glanced his teeth as Zephyr started to talk then stopped and looked down. "Look at me when you talk to me," he said, his voice still edged and angry.

Brady continued to look at Zephyr with his fists hanging at his sides. The notion was sweet. Of course that's why he really wanted to go to Korea. And it made the anger in Brady's chest ebb a little bit as he pictured being able to sit and have conversations with Zephyr in Korean. It had always been a dream of his to be able to do that. But that anger and that hurt came back stronger. Because instead of trying to do with Brady Zephyr pushed him away and did it on his own. And it tainted their relationship and made the edges sharp and broken.

Brady stepped closer as Zephyr tried to go disappear into the wall. "That's a lie. Because you wanted to come back and not talk to me at all! It you wanted to talk to me you would have tried when you got back. I don't know when you got back. But it doesn't matter. You don't want to talk to me. That much is clear!" Brady rarely ever raised his voice but he felt it getting higher, his own pronunciation getting worse, his fists clenching and unclenching.
